Sixty-one percent of Cal State East Bay students are the first in their family to go to college. AffordableColleges.Org ranks Cal State East Bay as the No. 1 California school for online education. Alumnus Gene Luen Yang (MS ’03, Education) was the recipient of a prestigious MacArthur Foundation “Genius Grant." The Pioneers for H.O.P.E. program helps at risk students facing homelessness, food insecurity, and other various crisis situations. The Wall Street Journal recognizes CSUEB as a Top 10 college in the west for diversity. More than 60% of Cal State East Bay students are female. CSUEB has won a HEED award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine for four straight years. The award honors universities that have shown exceptional commitment to diversity and inclusiveness.
